Taryn has been working in the mental mental field since 2013, in a variety of settings to include outpatient counseling, school-based counseling, and specialized programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She believes that the fullness of life can be experienced on the other side of trauma and difficulty, as long as one commits oneself to the healing journey. Taryn’s counseling style is eclectic, but embraces techniques from family systems theory, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, feminist theory, narrative therapy, EMDR, and play therapy. She encourages an environment of support, acceptance, and positive regard for her clients. Some areas of interest for Taryn include trauma, anxiety, depression, childhood emotional neglect, highly-sensitive people (HSPs), ADHD, grief, women’s issues, identity issues, spiritual trauma, children of divorce, codependency, and personality disorders.
In her free time, Taryn enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and 3 German Shepherds in their 100 year-old home that they are renovating. She practices self-care by gardening, listening to stand-up comedy, live music, and interior design.  Taryn is currently working as a resident in counseling, accruing hours to become a licensed professional counselor.
