Trust Based Relational Intervention was developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross, both of Texas Christian University. This model treats the complex needs of children who are from “hard places”. Using this three-pronged intervention, parents are provided with a blueprint to create felt safety for their foster or adoptive child making healing trauma and attachment wounds possible for those who have experienced complex developmental traumas.
Living Water Counseling Center is currently participating in a research study with Texas Christian University to validate the efficacy of this treatment. Please check out this study at https://child.tcu.edu/tbri-counselors-manual-project.
If you are unfamiliar with this approach, please take a moment to listen to Dr. Karyn Purvis explain the underlying principles and three components of TBRI.
