Elly has lived in Virginia for the last decade, and considers herself now a Virginian at heart. She received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with the hope of reaching adults, children, and adolescents with the healing presence of the therapeutic relationship and tools for tangible change in their daily lives. Elly has 4+ years of experience working with children, teens, and adults in therapeutic settings. Her experiences have ranged from therapeutic autism support, grief counseling, communication skill development for neurodivergent adults, relational issues, and anxiety concerns. She also has experience in women’s issues, processing trauma, college adjustment, obsessive or ruminating thoughts, and assertiveness skills. Elly incorporates Christian counseling upon client request.
Elly emphasizes with her counseling clients the power of understanding and telling one’s own story. She cares deeply about her clients feeling empowered with their words and in telling their story. She believes that the stories we tell ourselves echo powerfully into how we live our lives. In counseling with her, understanding your story may look like reaching to the past for context, looking to the future to craft a vision, and leaning into the present to create change. Elly’s goal is to meet you in compassion, honesty, and intentionality to move toward healing. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers
Elly is married to her husband and enjoys time with him and with her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys learning and reading, sewing, running, and writing music and poetry. She also looks forward to gardening in each season and finding new types of bread to bake.
